How to create an in-person service
Step 1: Select “In-Person Service”
To begin:
- Go to the Services & Events section of your dashboard.
- Click “+ Add New”
- From the pop-up options, select “In-Person Service.”
This option lets you:
- Set a physical location or travel radius
- Define your rate, availability, and duration
- Include any add-ons, packages, or custom details
Once selected, you’ll move into the service setup flow.
Step 2: Add Your Service Title, Description & Visuals
Now it’s time to tell clients what you offer and how it will appear on your public profile.
Fill out the following:
Service Title
Create a clear, specific name for your service.
Examples:
- “90-Minute In-Person Makeup Session”
- “Personal Training at Your Location”
- “On-Site Business Consulting”
Description
Tell people exactly what to expect.
Include:
- What’s included in the service
- Where or how it takes place
- Any prep instructions or expectations
Use the “Generate Text” button to have Bookme’s AI help you write something professional and polished.
Service Card Image
Upload an image that will be shown on your public service card.
Recommended: 624×984px (JPEG or PNG, up to 10MB)
Tip: Use a branded visual, professional headshot, or photo representing your service in action.
Your preview card on the right will update as you fill things in, allowing you to see how it will look live.
Step 3: Set Your Pricing and Duration
Decide how much to charge and how long each session will be. Bookme gives you flexible options to match your style of service.
Choose Your Pricing Model:
- Hourly Rate — Great if you charge by the hour and want to give clients flexibility on session length.
- Flat Rate — Ideal for fixed-time services (e.g., a 1-hour massage, a 90-minute hair styling session).
If you leave the rate field blank, the service will appear as free.
(Optional) No-Show/Cancellation Fee
You can enable this if you'd like to charge clients for late cancellations or missed appointments.
Set Service Duration:
If using hourly rate, enter:
- Minimum Duration — the shortest amount of time someone can book you for
- Maximum Duration — the longest session you’re willing to take
Accept Cash Payments
Toggle this on if you’re open to being paid in person (outside the Bookme system).
Especially helpful for stylists, home service providers, and other local pros.
If you enabled the “Accept Cash Payments” toggle, you’ll see additional options for how you’d like to get paid offline.
Choose your preferred payment methods:
- Cash App
- Venmo
- Zelle
- Cash (in person)
You can select one or multiple options based on what you accept.
Step 4: Set Your Availability
Choose the days and times you’ll be available to offer this in-person service. This ensures that clients can only book you when you’re open for appointments.
How to Set Your Schedule:
- Select the checkbox next to the day(s) you’re available.
- Set your start and end time (e.g., 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM).
- Need a break or split shift? Click “+ Add New Time” to add multiple time blocks on the same day (e.g., 9 AM–12 PM and 3 PM–6 PM).
Times are based on the timezone listed at the top (you can change it by clicking the pencil icon ✏️).
Pro Tip:
You can adjust your schedule later at any time from your dashboard. It would be great if your availability could change weekly or seasonally.
Step 5: Set Your Location
Now let Bookme know where your in-person service takes place. You can meet clients at your location, travel to them, or offer both!
Option 1: My Service Location
This is the address where your service will be held — like a salon, office, studio, or public location.
- Enter your venue name or full address
- This is what the client will see on their booking confirmation
Example: “Glow Beauty Studio, 123 Main St, Miami FL”
Option 2: Willing to Travel
If you offer mobile or on-location services (e.g., house calls, event makeup, pop-up training):
- Enter the maximum travel distance you’re willing to go (e.g., 15 miles)
- Input the “From” address (where your travel starts)
- Optional: Check the box to charge for travel time
This is great for makeup artists, personal trainers, photographers, mobile notaries, and more.
Step 6: Add Optional Add-Ons or Promo Packages
This step helps you upsell or bundle your services to give clients more value — and boost your revenue.
Add-Ons
Add-ons are extra services a client can select on top of your base offering.
Examples:
- “Add a Makeup Trial”
- “Extra 30 Minutes”
- “Travel Beyond 15 Miles”
You can price them separately and clients can add them during booking.
Promo Packages
Promo packages bundle services together at a discount or set rate.
Examples:
- “Buy 3 sessions, get 1 free”
- “Bridal Package: Makeup + Hair + Travel”
- “Monthly Personal Training Plan”
You can skip this step if you don’t want to add extras right now — or come back later and create them from your dashboard!
Step 7: Set the Service Duration
Let clients know how long this service will be available for bookings into the future.
Option 1: Ongoing (Recommended for most)
Choose this if your service is offered continuously with no set end date.
- You can let clients book up to 180 days (6 months) in advance.
- Update or pause the service anytime in your dashboard.
Option 2: Set Date Range
Choose this if the service is:
- Seasonal or temporary
- Part of a pop-up, tour, or limited event
Just enter your start and end dates, and Bookme will automatically close bookings outside of that range.
Tip: Even if your business is ongoing, setting a booking limit (like 90 or 120 days) can help manage your schedule better.
Step 8: Add a Custom Welcome Message
This message will be automatically sent to your client after they book your in-person service. It’s a great way to:
- Set expectations
- Share any prep instructions
- Provide directions or contact info
- Add a warm, personal touch
Example Welcome Message:
Hi there!
Thanks for booking with me—I’m looking forward to meeting you. Please arrive 5 minutes early and bring any materials or questions you’d like to discuss.
If you need to reach me or reschedule, you can reply to this message or email me at [your email].
See you soon!
Tip: This is optional but highly recommended to build trust and reduce no-shows.
