Updated over a month ago

Bookme’s built-in video chat lets you host online sessions without relying on third-party tools. Video calls are fully integrated with your bookings, notifications, and records—so you can join sessions instantly and stay organized before, during, and after each call.

Getting Notified About Video Bookings

When you receive a new booking for a service that uses Bookme’s built-in video chat:

  • You’re notified via email and/or SMS, and Bookme's built-in Messenger

  • The email notification includes the booking method

  • If the service uses Bookme's video chat, you’ll see a Join Video Call link

Clicking this link takes you directly into the video call.

Ways to Join a Video Call

You can join a video session from multiple places:

Option 1: From Email

  • Open the booking confirmation email

  • Click Join Video Call

  • You’ll be taken directly into the video call.

Option 2: From the Bookings Page

  • Click Bookings in the left-hand menu (desktop) or the hamburger menu (mobile)

  • View your list of bookings (filter by Upcoming or Past)

  • On the right side of video bookings list, click the Join Video Call with green camera icon

You can also click a booking to open the side panel and join from there.

Option 3: From the Booking Record

  • Open a booking from anywhere in the app: Bookings page, Messenger conversation, an email or SMS notification.

  • In the Method section, you’ll always see Join Video Call with green camera icon

  • Click the link to launch the session

Anywhere the booking record appears, the video link is available.

Joining the Video Chat

Once you click Join Video Call:

  • The video chat opens automatically in the correct room

  • Your browser will ask for permission to access:

    • Camera

    • Microphone

  • Select Allow to enable both (required for video chat)

You’ll then enter the session.

Video Chat Controls

During the call, you’ll see your video preview in the bottom-right corner and a toolbar centered at the bottom with five controls:

  1. Microphone – Mute or unmute your audio

  2. Camera – Turn your video on or off

  3. Screen Share – Share a browser tab, window, or entire screen

  4. Settings – Choose your camera, microphone, and audio output

  5. End Call (Red Phone) – End the video session

Viewing Booking Details During a Call

While in the video chat:

  • Click Show Booking Details in the top-right corner

  • A side panel opens with:

    • Booking information

    • Booker contact details (with edit option)

    • My Notes section

Notes

  • Add private notes about the booking or client

  • Notes are saved to the booking record

  • Bookers cannot see these notes

Ending the Call and Rating Quality

When the session ends:

  • You’ll be asked to rate audio and video quality (1–5 stars)

  • Both you and the booker can submit ratings

  • You’ll then have two options:

    • Rejoin the session

    • Return to the dashboard

Summary

  • Join video calls from email, bookings, or booking records

  • No third-party tools required

  • Built-in controls for audio, video, screen sharing, and settings

  • Access booking details and add private notes during the call

  • Rate call quality after each session
