Updated over a month ago

Bookme automatically keeps both you and your clients informed before and after every booking. Notifications and reminders are sent at key moments to reduce no-shows, keep schedules aligned, and ensure everyone knows what’s happening.

Notifications When a Booking Is Created

Immediate Booking Notifications

When a client books your service:

  • Both you and your client are notified immediately

  • Notifications are sent via:

    • System messages in the built-in Messenger

    • Email

    • SMS (if enabled in your notification settings)

You can choose to receive notifications by email, SMS, or both.

Notifications for Booking Updates

Changes, Cancellations, and Reschedules

Any time a booking is updated:

  • Cancellation

  • Reschedule request

  • Confirmed reschedule

Both the service provider and the booker are notified through:

  • System messages in the built-in Messenger

  • Email notifications

  • SMS notifications (if enabled)

This ensures both parties stay in sync.

Reminder Notifications Before the Service

One-Hour Reminder

To help prevent missed appointments:

  • A reminder is sent one hour before the booking start time

  • Reminders are sent to both the service provider and the booker

How SMS Notifications Work for Bookers

Phone Number Prompt at Checkout

  • During booking confirmation, the booker is prompted to enter their mobile number

  • This step is optional, not required

  • If a phone number is provided:

    • The booker receives SMS notifications

    • SMS reminders are sent in addition to email notifications

If no phone number is entered, notifications are sent by email only.

SMS notification setup for providers is covered in a separate article.

Summary

  • Providers are notified instantly when a booking is created

  • Both parties receive updates for cancellations and reschedules

  • Both parties receive a one-hour reminder before the service

  • SMS reminders are sent if a phone number is provided

  • Notifications reduce no-shows and last-minute confusion
